If you want to make a political argument about the relation between England and Scotland it would be to your benefit not to come off as a bigot. Hating Scottish people makes no sense as it's the politicians who make the rules and decisions, the average person does not have much say.
SHOULD a state have rights to independence? I think so, apparently you don't, but opinions don't really matter, Scotland is in control of its actions. The will of the state has more authority over it's actions than alliances, agreements, institutions, do. If Scotland really wanted to separate it could. If it wanted to start a war with England it could do that too. But perhaps they like "bleeding English tax payers dry". Perhaps England should just let them go and try to make do by themselves. |

OK lets think back 300 years to 1707 - the Anglo-Saxon Union, The reasons England had for wanting such an act was that they wanted Scotland to have the same monarchy, They were worried that the Scots might choose a Catholic King. In Scotland, it was claimed that union would enable Scotland to recover from the financial disaster wrought by the Darien scheme through English assistance and the lifting of measures put in place through the Alien Act to force the Scottish Parliament into compliance with the Act of Settlement. This financial disaster is no longer the case in modern day Scotland. I totally disagree with the allegation that Scotland

We are becoming a wealthier place to live but also we are becoming a place where investment is great. If Scots are "scroungers" as you say, why is there such a large presence of English people who wish to stay north of the border because they feel it is better, safer and more well off in general.
Oil - Simple response, its in our waters! It is Westminister who benefit from Scotland's oil and will continue under the Act of Union. I would also love to hear what party you like to vote for. BNP or the Tories would not be very surprising.

2.when we become independent we will not return. Scotland is being held back and has to settle for second best economic success because westminister benefits from Scotland.

Everything you say is correct. It is true that the England has been paying taxes to subsidise Scotland. I agree lets give them total Independence and that should include them paying for themselves without relying on the English to cough up. Anyway why are they happy to take money from us when the majority cant stand us. |
