Does an inheritance play into one's earned income tax status?

joker_32605
No. Inherited money is not taxable to the recipient.

ZenWoman
NO, only if your inheritance is in the bank or in stocks and earns dividends or interest. The principal amount of the inheritance up to200K is tax free.

no matter how much money you have the government will find a way to screw you out of it.

Yes it does. And they take a whole lot more than they do for federal or state. Check out how much you have to pay before you spend any of it. Taxes on heritance are high!!!!

yes get a cpa involed before you take it as to how to shelter as much of it as you can. you also have a one time 600K exampted amount for the IRS for you and each person or family member as you receive it into the family estate.

Mel
Ask H&R Block. As a matter of fact do your taxes on line with their software, cost less that way and they will answer all your questions as you go through the form.
