Are you still married??
Go to the IRS website and read the publication on "innocent spouses" and see if anything sounds familiar. |

If it's taxes due from a joint return, you are just as liable as your husband.
You could try contacting the IRS. They normally are pretty willing to work out payment arrangements. You must have ignored a lot of IRS notices if they are actually garnishing your wages.
Divorcing your husband or filing bankruptcy won't get you out of pay the back taxes. |

Did you file a joint tax return? When it comes to joint tax returns, you both reap the benefits but on the flip side, you are both equally responsible for failure to pay. |

Sure - see that your husband pays his taxes. Or file as married filing separately in the future, then you wouldn't be responsible for his taxes for that year. If you've already filed a joint return for previous years, then by doing that you basically took on the responsibility to pay them if he didn't.
Sorry, not the answer you were hoping for, I know. Unfortunately nobody ever said life is fair.
Good luck. |

Are you still married to him, and did you file jointly? If so, I am afraid that their is nothing that can be done. If not, contact the IRS and tell them your problem. |

If you filed a joint tax return, they are your taxes too, like it or not. You and your husband need to take action to stop the hemorrhaging so that your current taxes are being paid. You also need to contact IRS to establish that the levy on your wages is causing you to be unable to pay basic living expenses.

getting a divorce will eventually end the IRS seizing your wages.
bankruptcy will also.
you'll want an attorney to advise you of specifics |
