Does anyone know how much HR Block will charge to file a 1040EZ?

notaperviemusculargent
Don't go to Block. They will charge 70-110 for the EZ only. They won't show you how to dig for deductions so that you will be better off financially next tax season. Just do Turbotax, FreetaxUSA, Taxbrain or Taxact on line. eFile on the Federal only with that free Federal eFile. Then go to your State website. You can find it in any search engine. You type in your State along with "department of taxation". E.g, I typed in Idaho Department of Taxation on yahoo and "Idaho State Tax Commission" came up. That's the government body that collects income tax {and I believe all taxes} for the State of Idaho. I say all of that because several States do not charge on their website to do income taxes. So you may be able to iFile {eFile} the State return for free. If the IRS accepts your return, you should get your State back in 5 business days and your Federal in 10-15 business days depending upon how late in the season.

However much it is it's too much. I suggest turbotax.com

I'd recommend that you get the form and try to do it yourself.
the hardest part is not transposing digits.
EZ really does mean that.

many years ago, i volunteered to help people in poorer sections of town do their taxes.
that was before the EZ form.
today, it really is easy.

in fact, I'd bet if there's an IRS office near you, they'd even help you.
the bank 1099 and your W2.
they'll have the EZ form to fill out.
if you think you're going to owe, take your check book.
fill it out, get in line for the window, and ask if you've done it right.

if not ask if there's someone who can help you.
once you have done it, next year will be really easy.
and quick.

if you get it in early, you get your refund fairly quick.
if you wait til April, it takes them longer.

also, don't wait until April to go into the office.
it gets fuller every day.
Apr 15 is a really bad idea.

good luck.

Edit: from above,
"about $60 - $70 for 1040EZ"
try to do it yourself.
if it takes you 3 hours (it won't) you'll be making $20 an hour.
tax free.
and, it really should be less than 1 hour.
them's pretty good wages.

It depends on if you have children, a business, tax deductions, how fast you want your money back it varies drastically.

If you are doing the EZ then do it yourself. Believe me, it's the easiest tax form. If you are using it you must be getting claimed as a dependent? That's the last time I used that form.

go to turbo tax and file for free 1040ez or go to www.irs.gov and can do them for free from their site

earwaxyness
You can do the federal 1040EZ online with Turbo Tax for free. Of course, they want you to pay to have your state taxes done there as well, but you do not have to. You can simply use the free federal version.

It is a one page form that any 7th grade kid could fill out in 3 minutes why pay someone to do it?

Its FREEEEEEEEEEE

you should just do it yourself, it is soooo easy. go to www.irs.gov, and go to publications. And don't forget to do your state tax as well!!! Happy tax preparation! (if you really need some help, I would advise you to call the IRS, you will find their phone number on that website as well. They are very helpful, and will tell you exactly what to do over the phone.)

Liberty tax is now around 88 dollars. Each area is different though for instance NY city would be higher.

A lot.

You probably want to use something like TurboTax online, if you just need to do a 1040EZ.

JD Stewart
If you do it online, you can have it done for $14.95. That comes with a minimal guarantee and possible help if you are audited (which I feel is worth the cost).

I got my refund in six days, they've always been efficient and professional.

VIK8423
It depends on the complexity of your file and they also give you the option of receiving a money-now loan on based on your return or you can wait for your actual return. I went there and was charged $130 for a simple file and I had them deposit my money directly to my account.

liliana
So many answers but it looks like nobody actually reeds the question :D
If you are single and no dependents H&R Block will charge you about $60 - $70 for 1040EZ.
