zettski_29 | Does anyone know if the earned income credit affects how much you economic stimulus rebate payment will be? |
|

I know that it did for me. It dropped me down so that I had a lower than 7000.00 taxable income. Even though I made more than 7000.00 last year my taxable income is now less than 7000.00 so I only get a 300.00 check now instead of a 600.00 check. Hope this helps. |

The earned income credit has no effect on your economic stimulus payment. However, if your income is low enough to qualify for EIC, that could impact how much you'll receive in the stimulus payment. In addition to being based on filing status & number of dependents under age 17, it is also based on having gross income of at least $3,000 and having some sort of tax liability. You could receive anywhere from $300 to $600 per person for yourself & your spouse plus $300 per dependent under age 17. |

Don't believe it does...just the amount of income you made, and the amount of taxes you paid.
go to www.irs.gov, and they've got all the info there for you! |

No, EIC is calculated farther down on the form than your net income tax liability. EIC will NOT affect what you are eligible for. |

Yes it does because it reduces your tax liability. As in if you paid no taxes your rebate for you drops from $600 to $300 (or if you ended up paying less than $600 in taxes) |

It may. If you paid less than $300 in taxes due to the credit, you will only get $300. If you paid between $300 and $600 you will get that amount back. If you paid over $600, you will get $600. |

yes it will affect your check |

It doesn't matter. The stimulus check is based solely on depents and filing status. |
