Yes. If you qualify for the rebate, regardless of whether you owed taxes, you get the rebate.

You pay your taxes first, then you'll get the rebate in a separate transaction.

The rebates are supposed to come out in May 2008.

Omer K
No, IRS rebates are for people who dont owe any taxes and have filled this years's tax return

strategicedge01
if you look on the irs website, it says that if you have a tax liability that you owe, your stimulus could be withheld to be applied to your tax liability. So if you owe taxes from a previous year, most likely no, you will not get the stimulus check, it will be applied to your tax debt.
I know, it sucks! I'm in the same boat.

You won’t get a stimulus payment in 2008, if any of the following apply to you:

*
You don’t file a 2007 tax return.
*
Your net income tax liability is zero and your qualifying income is less than $3,000. To determine your qualifying income, add together your wages, net self-employment income, nontaxable combat pay, Social Security benefits, certain Railroad Retirement benefits and certain veterans’ payments.
*
You can be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return (whether or not you actually are claimed as a dependent on someone else's return). For example, this would include a child or student who can be claimed on a parent’s return. [Updated 4/15/08]
*
You do not have a valid Social Security Number.
*
You are a nonresident alien.
*
You file Form 1040NR or Form 1040NR-EZ, Form 1040PR or Form 1040SS for 2007.

That depends on how much you owe, so the answer is maybe.

Here's the answer from the web site:

Q. The notice I received shows that I should have gotten more than the government actually deposited into my bank account. Did something go wrong?

A. It could be that the amount deposited into your bank account was what remained of your stimulus payment after it was offset for money you owed on back taxes or other debts such as a student loan or child support. If this is the case, you’ll receive an additional notice, providing details on the offset.

If you CURRENTLY owe federal taxes you will not get the rebate check. If you DID owe in 2007 and have paid the taxes you will get a rebate.

It depends, my family does.

Absolutely not. They will keep your check and the amount will be applied to your balance owed.

randall_nd
Yes, you pay your taxes as normal and the Stimulus Payment will come automatically.

I think the answer is yes you will. they didn't say you had to be getting a refund ,just had to file

I read that you still get the tax rebate,,,but if you didnt pay your taxes you owed by april 15th...the rebate will be applied towards that.. plus and fees and penalties ! I owed $313 and paid that, so I am suppose to get the $600 on may 12

Looks LIke Aladdin
Actually it's on the IRS website. You will get a rebate as long as you do not owe anything to the feds. If you do, your rebate will be deducted from what you owe.
