People who owe child support over 500.00 do not get refunds or rebates. And why should they? It cracks me up when deadbeats get mad because their refund gets snagged, pay your dues!!!!!! |

The rebate will be offset for the child support - the Q&A on irs.gov for the rebate is very clear on that. |

Any tax refunds, including the stimulus plan rebates, are subject to capture for unpaid child support if the local Child Support Enforcement Agency submitted the case to FMS for capture. If your debt is less than the amount of the rebate, you'll get the difference. If it's more then there won't be any rebate going your way. |

I'm not 100% certain, but I know my friend owes some (about $3000) and he's not expecting to get his, since he never gets his tax refund checks, the state takes them.... (and it's ticking him off, lol) |

Whether or not you owe back support has no bearing on if you are entitled to recieve the new rebate thing coming up. Owing back support does however matter on whether or not you get to KEEP it. It can and will be offset for back support where necessary. So if this person owes more than $500 in back support, and they qualify to recieve a rebate, they will just get a nice letter saying that the gov is sending their rebate onto child support instead of a check to them. |

Bush will help deadbeat dads provide some support for their children by having IRS grab their stimulus rebate and redirect it. |

The IRS has already said that they will be keeping any rebates and applying them to money owed for back taxes but have not specifically said anything about back child support. If they are keeping your tax refund now, it is most likely that they will do the same thing with your rebate. |

Since they are completely separate entities, I do believe they would still receive the refund. However, that person should take advantage of this and give it to his deserving children. I hope this person does. It is expensive to raise kiddos. |
