Florida has 8 days almost every year. It covers clothing and school stuff. This year for the first time we also had a "hurricane" tax free week which allowed us to buy batteries, lamps, flashlights etc.
Georgia has several smaller one each year. But the great thing about theirs is, it even includes computers.
Florida puts a limit on the amount of each item (not the total purchase) usually 50 bucks, but once it was $100. The great thing is that all of the retail stores have really good sales to get you into their store, so you can really rack up some savings. |

i live in ct and it has a tax free week but i went on vacation and was suprized to find out their is never shopping taxes!!!!! |

New Jersey is proud to tax 24-7, 365 days a year. Sales tax, property tax, fees.
Oh, but for some reason, Nestle Crunch bars are always tax free here, as are odor eaters. |

We had a tax free weekend. The store I needed to go to was closed on Sunday. Can you imagine the business they lost because of that. I was really surprised. |

yes this Sat. & Sun in MA, oooohhh can not wait. things are so weird that way when you are so used to the tax. It is like the twilight zone for me that weekend. |

One of the things our great Gov. the Hon. Kathleen Blanco did after Katrina was to give us a tax free weekend. It was back around right before Christmas, sometime last year. Everybody went out and bought appliances with their insurance settlements to replace the drowned ones. I guess it was a great success. I hope Louisiana does it again this year. This is a great question when you consider the implications for the business owners. On the one hand, they have a booming weekend. On the other hand, they have to program all the cash registers and computers to account for the lack of taxes. Our state gave each business a small stipend, I think around $25 per cash register to pay for the logistics. Amazing! |

Yes Georgia does for about 6 days before school. It doesn't cover everything, but clothes, school supplies, etc.
Florida (which actually is considered a sururb of Georgia) has a tax free day also. |
