I just figured out a good way to switch government control to civilian control...don't pay your taxes, then use that money you save toward becoming self sufficient. Its the chain that we've been under for decades that can be broken without hostility, if the government reacts what are they going to do? I don't think they will do anything because there's no reason to.

The only way this would work is if one day everyone stopped paying taxes. That would mean that employers would not withhold and come tax time people would not file. This would never happen.
There are 305 million people in the US. Even if you had 2,000,000
following this is .00657. Not going to make a huge impact.
If the billionaires decided not to pay taxes, it would have to be all of them in the US. That would be interesting.
Anyway, the best way is to vote to reduce the size of government.
Start off with Congress and the Senate. Next work on all the Departments in the government. It can be done, but not overnight. |

Then don't use the roads, schools, public hospitals or other facilities. Also don't call the fire brigade when your house is burning, or the police when a crime has been committed against you.
Tax minimization is great but if everyone stopped paying taxes entirely, there would be no more society. Unfortunately we all have to pay. Anyone who thinks they don't pay obviously is missing what happens when you buy good and services, when you use toll roads etc
No free lunch. I wish there was though. |

I don't think it would work, because, sure, people could use it to become self-sufficient as you say...but how many people would donate "their" money toward repairing roads? What about schools and libraries? How many people would be lining up to give "their" money saved on not paying taxes to keep public transportation up and running?
So no, I don't think it would work unless we all want to live in a world without roads to drive over, buses to take, etc. I see your logic but since we utilize common things as a society, that money has to come from somewhere.
And I agree with the others here. Do pay your taxes. :) You don't want to get in any trouble. |

ok you do that then call me and i will see you in court for tax evasion charges you will be looking at five years and a huge fine so go ahead and do that a decent lawyer charge $175 an hour just for court and all other types of fees but us normal humans pay taxes to avoid federal jail time |

if you don't pay your taxes for one year they will allow it but it will be added on to next years taxes and you if don't pay that year they can represses your property and auction off your stuff to get their money |
