I called my local H&R Block office and they told me that The refunds WILL NOT be deposited to my emerald card. A check will be mailed to me. :( |

In a few cases the rebate MIGHT go on the Emerald Card. Each Emerald Card is tied to an account at the H & R Block Bank, na. IF you used the routing code and account number of that account for direct deposit of your refund by the IRS then your rebate will be deposited to the same account and will be accessible with your Emerald Card.
Many folks opted for the card as part of a refund anticipation loan or quick pay scheme to deduct the fees from their refund. Those folks' refunds were NOT deposited directly to the account tied to the Emerald Card and will most likely receive their rebate check in the mail. |

I just watched a video that hr block made and if you didnt go through a bank to get the money and you have an actual account with the Emerald Card direct deposit then you WILL get it direct deposited. But if you went through there bank and got it faster your check will be sent in the mail. |

I'd believe the IRS, as they are the ones paying out the Economic Stimulus Payment
This is from the Frequently Asked Questions at www.irs.gov
"Q. Can my stimulus payment be directly deposited onto a stored value card or debit card where a bank product such as a RAL/RAC is not involved?
A. No. [New 4/14/08]"
Why would H& R Block lie? Well, no skin off their nose if they are wrong. Advice from them on this payment is worth exactly what you are paying for it. |

Hi, After reading emails regarding this subject I decided to call the H&R Block card holders service line. After waiting for 23 min. The operator had me listen to a recording that stated that Emerald Card holders would be receiving "paper checks". I am suppose to receive ours by May 16th. My husbands last two digits are 06.
Will I guess a paper check is better than a "Rubber check".
However, I did tell the H&R Block representative that they needed to get their "head out of their ___" which wasn't very nice, but I have heard three differant stories so far on this .
At least we're receiving a rebate. Although, with our goverment spending - could our country really afford it? NO! |

Don't know how much this will help now..but, I just got off the phone with the IRS and was told that due to the uproar of phone calls into their center...they have determined that the rebates will be loaded onto the Emerald card if that's how you received your refund. Not sure how much of that to belive...but, that's straight from the horse's mouth! |

If it's an actual account, and you didn't get an RAL or have your refund sent through Block to have your tax prep fees deducted, then the rebate will probably go on the card. |

I got clarification today from HR Block re: the stimulus payment emerald card issue. The IRS will only deposit the payment to your card if your original refund was directly deposited to the card and did not go through the H&R Block bank account first. In other words, you had to have paid for your return prep up front without having anything taken out of your refund by the tax preparer before it was deposited to your account. So even if you did not have a RAL, they consider the preparation fees to be a loan because they were not paid until you actually got your refund from the IRS.
Well, my bill collectors just have to keep waiting.... |

I called H&R block when I first heard about the refund and they said it will not go on the card (I cut mine up) They said to expect a paper Check going by the last 2 digits of your Social Security number. |

I think it would probably depend on the card. Some had used an instant card they received in the mail with HRBlock Client as the user name on the front. Some have had their cards for years now with their names on it like a regular debit card. We will see....... |

If you look at the paperwork HR Block gives you, they have a page that lists what Routing and Account number they sent to the IRS. On that same page they list the Routing and Account number of your Emerald Card. The Routing and Account numbers that were sent to the IRS is NOT the Routing and Account numbers of your Emerald Card. I have read some answers to this question that state the account HR Block sends to the IRS is a temporary acount. So I belive they are right, and the Routing and Account numbers the IRS received when you/HR Block filed were the numbers of this temporary account and then the bank that HR Block used then transfered funds onto your Emerald Card.
It would be nice if HR Block helped us out by allowing (somehow) this process to happen again, but I don't see that being easy for them or at all possible. Not that they would try very hard anyway. We only paid them to do our income taxes not worry about our rebate checks. I assume once the IRS tries to drop funds into that temporary account and finds out that it is closed they will mail paper checks :(
The copy of the 1040a or whatever they ended up filing you for you is also in the paper work and this is exactly what the IRS recieved. If you look the Routing number and Account number of the temporary account is also on this form, not the Routing and Account number of your Emerald Card.
I was hoping to have the Tax Rebate automaticaly loaded onto my Emerald Card as well, so I hope I'm wrong. |

"If you DIDNT get the card, you were forced to pay 20 extra dollars for a Paper check which I thought was a ripoff."
If you brought your checkbook/credit card and paid the tax preparation fees on the spot, then it was ripoff. If you agreed to let them take their fees out of the refund and then give you the rest, the $20 fee makes sense. |

I checked with my H and R Block Rep and the IRS. I would have been in this first group. I have received nothing on the card. At this point I am going with the paper check theory because other people I know in this group have their direct deposits already, and no one that I know with the Emerald card got one.
Sorry. I was kind of hoping it would happen that way. |

I just called the H&R block Customer service number. There is a whole section that tells you about you stimulus refund. It is option 1. If you had you income taxes direct deposited onto you emerald card within 5 days of filing your return you will get a paper check mailed to you. Talk about a real bummer! |
