Sunshine | Food stamps, I know Im going to get bashed? |
i got myself into big trouble. My kids and I recieve food stamps. I took on a babysitting job making some extra cash last year, but I never told the state. I am still way below the maximum amount to recieve food stamps. I calculated today, if i wouldve reported it i wouldve been able to recieve more food stamps. So recieve too much food stamps is not the problem. My problem is not telling them within 10 days. I didnt tell them because the family I was babysitting for told me my name would not be included on their taxes. Now they are saying they need all my info for their taxes. Is there any thing i can do?
I know Im going to get bashed. So if any one has any advise please give me some. Thanks! |

Report it now. They might be unhappy that you are reporting it late, but it's better than waiting until they come to you.... |

Make up a receipt for the person you babysat for. Include your Social Security number, your name, address, and the amount you received from them for babysitting.
Next, you will need to file a tax return which includes the babysitting money. If you watched the children in your own home, you will need to file Schedule C.
If by chance you babysat in the client's home, you could insist they issue you a W-2 and withhold taxes since you are a household employee. |

Come clean and hope for the best. It's your only option. I'll let you bash yourself, you know you forked up. |

You need to report it now. they could call it food stamp fraud and take them away. if they do this you will not be able to apply for 1-3 years, depending on your state. Or they could give you a warning, since you would still be entitled to them. It will depend on the worker handling your case.
Edit: Do not listen to the guy saying not to give your info. All the family will have to do is give your first/last name and the irs will report you to your county--then it will be tax fraud and food stamp fraud |

all you can do is reply and hope it works
they did same thing to my sister when she took in ironing
they knew she did not have enough money to live on and looked in to how she was still eating |

Usually they are pretty lenient with that kind of stuff, because i forget to tell them things all the time, and they never say anything. Just tell them you didnt think of it, and contact them right away |

if they didn't take your info when you started - don't give it to them now - you may lose the babysitting job, but if you give them the info, you'll have to report the income and pay a lot of taxes - on the next job you get - don't hide it from the state - you could lose all your benefits |

Yeah, don't expect the government to pay for your food and children. Get a job and a husband and pay for everything yourself. |
