The price of gas could be lowered if people stop consuming so much of it. The most likely way to accomplish this would be to reduce the use a gasoline in automobiles. This could be done if (a) people started buying more energy-efficient cars (such as hybrid gas/electric) and/or (b) if they started buying cars than ran on alternative fuels, such as alcohol.

Definitely...since the price is set by what the market will bear (what we are willing to pay), to reduce the price we need to reduce the DEMAND! Using hybrids or alternative fuel sources on a large scale would do it.
Pobept
reduce world wide demand this will drive down the price of crude oil and will be reflected at he gas pump as lower prices!

lol move to norway there gas is 11 cents a gallon

It's all about supply & demand. So, on the supply side, there are many options that the gas companies have been looking into to extract and/or convert oil faster (see Today Show interviews w/ CEO's from Exxon & Gulf)...but, many of these R&D technologies take time. On the demand side, there are ways to reduce demand/need for gas such as hybrid cars...again, will take a while to make a difference. I'm sure there are many other options as well.

yes and it isnt drilling we need more refineres it does us no good to have all the oil in the world if we cant get the gas out of the oil , more refineres = more gas on the market = lower prices untell comsumption goes back up then we are in the same hole as earlier
