Applying for unemployment would be just fine. The worst thing that could happen is you find out you are not eligible. |

You wouldn't very likely be eligible for unemployment since you haven't been working - would depend on when the last job was that you had, and whether you were laid off or quit or were fired. |

Unemployment has no negative impact on life in terms of records, loans, employment, etc.
IF you're a full-time student, you're probably not eligible for unemployment
And in order to receive unemployment you have to be actively looking for work, and make actual job applications
Suggest you consider applying for foodstamps, but you need to be working part-time at least |

Applying for unemployment is fine; no negative effects. You may be eligible if you were laid off, but not if you quit or were fired for cause.
In at least California, Arizona, and New York, you can apply without too much penalty 9 months after you stopped working. Your weekly benefit is determined by your total income in the active interval (usually the 4 calendar quarters preceding the previous calendar quarter, but sometimes a different set of calendar quarters), provided you worked in more than one of those quarters. There are no retroactive benefits unless you apply within one week of being laid off.
However, you will be ineligible for unemployment unless you are able to look for work full time. If you're in school, in many cases, you may not be eligible, and if they find out later, after you've started receiving benefits, you may be subject to fines or future ineligibility for unemployment. |

I don't think you can file for unemplyment after six months. Unemployment is paid in by employers, I think you only have 1 month to file after employment, and you had to have been fired or laid off. |

It depends on why you are no longer working. If you quit or were fired, you won't get it. This depends on what state you're in. Call your local unemployment office and ask them if you qualify or not. |

Your a Lazy kid aren't you? It is people like you that make our taxes soooooo high. You make me sick and the sad part is that you probably believe you deserve the "assistance". Get off the couch, get a job, finish your studies and stop drinking the cool-aid before it rots your brain. |

It won't affect your credit or records but I don't think you qualify if you only made 6K. You might do better applying for welfare. |

unemployment is for those without pride. If I lost my job today (I make decent money) I could wash dishes for a dramatic pay cut. of course i would not do that, i would collect unemployment and go sailing all day. |
