On average you can allow around 25% of that figure to be deducted.

I'm talking ball park figures here btw.

use salary calculator, will give you a good idea of what to expect.

To take account of tax and NI you will pay roughly 30% of your salary. You do need to be aware that part of your salary (approx £1,400 of it) will be taxed at the higher tax rate of 40%, which may move the percentage figure up slightly...
As a guide figure, I earn £33k, pay a v small amount for union subs and a further small amount to my non contrib pension and get approx £2k a month take home... I reckon you can work on approx £2,100 - £2,200 take home, assuming you do not pay into a pension scheme through your work.
btw: Roger - a large amount of what people spend their money of (rent, mortgages, staple foods etc) are NOT subject to VAT, so your assertion that people pay a further 17.5% tax on everything left after deductions is pretty badly flawed...

marky mark
about £9,000 you will pay in tax & N.I.

deborahballard1@btinternet.com
it works out about £690.00 per week less about 140 tax and insurance you should take home about £560 a week home 36.000 devided by 52 weeks =£692 per week approx then time that by 4 weekly equals 2.768 .

If you take approx 22% off so £28,080 take home pay. Approx. £2340 / month.

Recon on a 1/3 being taken before you get yours

Just for interest you then pay another 17.5 on anything you buy or even more if its fuel booze of cigarettes

sobering thought isn't it 33.3 + 17.5 = over 1/2 what you worked for

Have a nice day ( they ain't taxed that yet )
