deano_61 | H & R Block says that the IRS has accepted my tax return while the IRS says otherwise. Who is right? |
I filed my taxes with H & R Block recently. I went to their web site to check on my refund. Entered by social security # and it came back saying that the IRS has accepted my return but there will be a delay (which I already knew). Anyway, I went to the IRS site, entered by social security # there and the answer came back saying that they have not received my return yet. Who is telling the truth? |

I don't think either side is purposely not telling you the truth.
You are dealing with two very different reporting/computer systems. H&R processes some 15 million returns a year...a few hundred from each location. IRS processes about 200 million tax returns each year from individuals and millions more from businesses. As a result, it takes a bit longer for the IRS to process and report the status of their returns and the IRS does a bit more processing than does H&R.
It is true a smallish % of returns cannot be processed until 11 Feb. Those taxpayers who filed the following forms:
Form 8863, Education Credits
Form 5695, Residential Energy Credits
Schedule 2 (Form 1040A), Child and Dependent Care Expenses for Form 1040A Filers
Form 8396, Mortgage Interest Credit
Form 8859, District of Columbia First-Time Homebuyer Credit
...will see a delay. It could be you have one of these forms on your return. If so, H&R may have done all they needed to do and are simply awaiting 11 Feb to send it off electronically. In that case the IRS won't see it for another 2 weeks.
That, however, MAY not be the case here as the H&R person informed you it had been sent and acknowledged by the IRS. If that's true your return may just be sitting with a glut of returns awaiting processing at the IRS. When I came into work this AM the computer software I use showed delays/backlogs at many of the IRS processing centers. Not altogether unusual this time of year when millions of taxpayers get their W-2s and rush to file. Try to be patient. It'll get done. |

This could be a delay in the computer systems. The IRS will always be right even if their wrong, but you might need to wait a bit longer before all data shows correctly. |

H&R. IRS has not caught up yet. |

I had the same problem, but it took the IRS website 7 days to catch up. If it's been less than 7 days since you submitted your return, your info won't be ready on the IRS site yet. |

They are always behind.
wait another week. (it's frustrating I know)
The IRS is in another world of it's own.
They are Robots and the Robots depend on other Robots to function.
Like the guy said above....They are right even when they are wrong, reason, because the Robots are program to only speak what is put in.
Garbage IN Garbage OUT..!!
Don't worry they will get to you......they leave no stone un-turn (unless it's too their advantage) and then they are still right.
like weeks and years sometimes......but they are still right!!!
They need to be put in effect to locate Bin Laden!!
They'd find him. |

H & R Block is right. The taxes will be accepted, but refunds will not be distributed for a while longer due to the tax reform policy this year. The IRS is stacked with like 52 million distributions, so give it about 4 weeks to show up. |

IRS will always be correct. However I would give it some time because they are backed up with a lot of returns. Give the IRS about 4 weeks to update your status. If by then you have not seen any changes, you need to call H & R Block to have them resolve the problem. H & R Block has a guarantee to file your returns correctly. They can be held responsible for mistakes in filing, just keep records for your own protection. |

I would suggest to print out the screen shots that you are seeing and go back to H&R Block. TheI would think there would be a confirmation# between H&R Block and the IRS if it was submitted. It's possible there's a time delay, but I would double check to ensure that is all it is. |

IRS wins.
Did you file any forms (eg, education credit) with your tax return? 5 forms are not being accepted yet, so if you submitted them with HRB, they are sitting on the HRB computer waiting to be uploaded in february to the IRS. You say you knew there would be a delay, so this is probably it. |

The IRS probably hasn't processed it all yet, esp. if you knew their would be any sort of delay. Sometimes it sets it back a month or so. |
