Do you have children? You may be receiving some Earned Income Credit (EIC) which is also given back to you along with whatever was withheld.

There are certain things that will generate a tax CREDIT for you. Unlike a DEDUCTION, a CREDIT is applied to your actual tax bill. In some cases, if all of your tax is paid and you still have credit left, you'll get that refunded to you in cash.

First off, please to NOT type in ALL CAPS. It's the equivalent of yelling at someone and is considered very rude.

There are several reasons why you would receive back more than what was withheld. There are several refundable credits, such as the Earned Income Credit and the Recovery Rebate Credit that would cause this to happen.

How much did you make all together, how old are you, and do you have any qualifying children who live with you? It could be EIC, an earned income credit. Or if you didn't get a stimulus payment last year, could be that.

travelguruette
Did you get the full stimulus payment earlier this year? If not then you are probably getting more back from that.

its cause you got the earned income credit... you'll typically get back ALL the taxes you paid in.. including medicare, etc..

something is definitely wrong. You can't have a total tax debt of less then zero unless you have a capital loss. Call the IRS because if they catch it next year or later you could end up having to pay interest and penalties on whatever you really owe.
