I used to work for the Halifax on certain mortgage department and then another department - I got out of there as soon as I could - took me a year mind you!! Its not about customer service, its about making money - I could tell you some things but I had to sign a confidentiality agreement - so I'd be hung drawn and quartered!! Lets just say customers with a certain type of mortgage would not be very happy about interest rate calculations on their mortgages pre - 1990!!!
Anyway, I dislike the Halifax. I find that Lloyds TSB are great, or have been since I've had my bank account with them. I don't work in the financial industry now (thankfully!!) but I'd recommend Lloyds any day of the week. |

Totally agree. They have absolutely wrecked the service side of the Bank of Scotland which was absolutely first class before the disastrous take over. I really do not know what is wrong with the Halifax - they have a terrible attitude to customers. |

I couldn't agree more, I've never seen such bad service in my life! my family have banked with Halifax all my life and now they've told me that i am no longer allowed to talk to a person!! i have to either phone in or use an ATM WTF?!? how can that even be accepted in society? they have like a minimum of 5 tills in each store and never have more than one person to five tills, and then, once you've finally got to the front of the queue, you're told that you won't be served because of the type of account you have. Who gives a SH!@T what account you have, it's still their bank isn't it? Also, they only offer one account to foreigners i know cause my Boyfriend is from SA and it's one of the ones they won't serve. In fact, the only time i've seen worse service is with BT but that's another story entirely. IF you've read this, sorry for wasting your time, but it was good to have a rant. |

I moved from them three years ago when they stuffed us on our endowment policy, now my mortgage is £30 a month cheaper and the new providers cheltnam and clouster helped us recoup some of our losses. get out now you`lle be better off. |

I have to agree with John. The Bank of Scotland is now truly awful.I had banked with them for the last twenty years and never had a problem.Since its joined with Halifax numerous
errors ,incorrect advice and charges put on my accounts.
I eventually recovered the money but the staff were so rude and unwilling to help let alone apologise.
I have now changed banks-mortgage-savings-ISA and credit card are all with one of their competitors.I took great delight in telling the bank why I was leaving.
The best way to get back at these ungrateful shylocks is to remove the thing they love and covet most......
Our money ! |

I've had a mortgage and children's saving accounts with them but had to change the savings accounts as my son, then a baby, screamed every time we went into the branch. It didn't matter what time of day it was, whether 'd just fed him or anything, he screamed.
Oh, and the staff (in this branch) were amongst some of the rudest people I've ever met, that might have had something to do with it. Oh, and asking me to make an appointment to close an account. Ah, yes, I see know there was more to it than just a screaming child, perhaps he was just picking up on my tension every time I walked in! |

I thought I was the only one who noticed how rude Halifax Bank staff are in most branches. We are the customers we should not be driven away Halifax need to retrain their staff than....... busy showing off with those adverts when they have very rude staff who dont even know we are paying their wages by depositing our money in that bank. |

yeah I am,
1) no sameday transactions, ie wont pay a DD unless money in 1 working day before, but let you take the money out so it cannot be paid and therefore charge you for unpaid DD.
2) 10 working days to clear a chq on a basic current account.
3) no teller service for certain accounts
4) still not heard anything about my fraud claim for £32 used for an online gambling site, this is over a year old now and was told would only take a month.
so yeah im pissed with em, |

My partner has been with them for over 10 years and has an overdraft, his wages go in every month but they wont give him a visa card? I recently tried to open a bank account with them - 6 weeks ago and I gave them all the ID needed and now they wont more ID - I went to another bank and opened up one instantly? |
