I ended up paying back extra last year and year before, even though i gave the correct amount on the form. I'm waiting to see what they've awarded me this time, or should I say what we've been overpayed, and got to pay back. It's all wrong and I'm not the only one, there are hundreds of people having to pay back. What's up don't they know how to calculate or something.

Yup, THEY screw them up and YOU get to pay!

they're DELIBERATELY designed to be ore trouble than they're worth so people won't claim! It's just a dodgy way of phasing out Family supplement as it was called 20 years ago..... Certainly nothing new or helpful!

Yes - it is a ludicrous system run inefficiently. I got so fed up with all of the paperwork that they kept sending I told them I no longer wanted to claim and was informed that unless I was no longer entitled to them I had no choice but to continue.

So even if you would rather do without the money they insist on making you claim.

I split up from my partner and due to their admin ended up repaying monthly the same amount that they are paying me - giving with one hand and taking away with the other.

And heaven help you if you are self employed and your annual income can vary!

Absolute nonsense - thanks Gordon Brown!

Wobbly
A few years ago when I was still entitled to them, I had AWFUL trouble with them. The money never arrived in my bank account. Every time I rang to find out why, I was told it would be there next week. Needless to say it never turned up. It went on for months and months, I went into the Tax Office, phoned loads of times and wrote to them. The system's a complete mess. All that for £8 a week! We don't get it any more and I can't say I'm sorry, although I still have to fill in a form every year to tell them how much we earn! Grrrrrrr.

Sorry, rant over. I take it you're having trouble?

Yep - don't bother claiming them because they only try to claim them back - even if you claim legitimately like I did.

The question you should have asked was , is there anyone that has not had trouble with tax credits

The answer to that whould have been no I don't claim them

I think everyone that deals with tax credits has problems as this is a govenment department , and being so they do not know there left to there right , and we trust them to run the contry?
