Has anyone been through anything like this, do you think it's a scam? please help me?
I received an email from a BMW remittance Manager telling me that my email won me a BMW vehicle and a 450 thousand sterling. I had to submit my contact details and a scanned copy of my passport to have the cheque couriered to me via The (Atlantic Express Courier LTD). The courier ompany then contacted my by email and telephone asking for delivery fees of 760 sterling to be tranfered to them in advance. And a scanned copy of the payment receipt, however when I wrote them saying that i do not have this amount the agent called me back and said I can pay the half. I am really not sure if that is OK. specially that the fees are too high. Please tell me.

Sorry, it is a scam!

A lottery scam is a variant of advance fee fraud (also know as a 419 scam). First, you (and thousands of other people) get a spam message stating that you could get millions of dollars -- in this case, because you won the lottery. If you believe the scammer and reply, he will charge you a fee before your winnings can get to you: this may be for having some documents notarized, or to pay the courier who's bringing your check, or to open a bank account, or international taxes, or any number of made-up excuses.

You can tell is a fake because:
(1) You can't win a lottery if you didn't enter (i.e. buy a ticket)
(2) There is no such thing as a lottery of email addresses.
(3) There is no such thing as an "international lottery", and in fact most countries have laws prohibiting their citizens from entering lotteries in other countries.
(4) If you DID win something, you wouldn't need to pay money to get your prize!
(5) BMW does not run any lotteries anywhere in the world. (See links #1 and #2.)

The courier company is completely imaginary. Ignore all their emails, they only want to steal your £ -- that's why they're happy with you only paying half the bill, they would still get £380!

Hi Juicy, sorry but it really is a scam, on one day last week I won a Toyota and 750,000 and would you believe it in addition i won 3 other lotteries I had not entered ! from Yahoo itself, 1 from Euro lotteries and I can't remember the the, however 2 of them were for 2.5 million. I must be one of the luckiest people in the world. Don't you think the e-mail addresses and the sites look impressive?.

OMG you just gave them all your information, exactly what they wanted, minus the money.

THIS IS A SCAM, and if I were you, I'd contact my local police. Definately Identity theft.

DON'T ever give out your information to emails such as that, they are more than 99% fake scams.

If it's too good to be true, it most probably is

Judy1
Geez, I sure hope you didn't send them any of the things they're requesting. It's a SCAM.

Any sweepstakes that requires you to pay anything to claim your prize is not legitimate.

Dave W
SCAM ALERT! If you win something, you should not have to pay anything to have it delivered to you. Any time someone asks you to pay in advance for a prize, it's a scam.

Jessi
you just sent them your name, contact info, and a copy of your passport...IDENTITY THEFT
