carqueen1 | Has anyone else been the victim of Brown's 10p tax hike in their payslip today? |
I am incensed. I have opened my payslip today to find I've had £10 stolen from my pay this month. I work term time only and am paid pro rata - this means I will lose £120 per annum. With a husband who is drawing a pension what the hell am I supposed to do !! I have looked on the govt website and it appears I am not eligible for tax credits. I am absolutely furious - what sort of uncaring, thoughtless moron have we got as a Prime Minister. Will someone get him out of here. Enough. Additional Details I'm sorry churie78 for upsetting you, we'll just have to sulk together !
Spook452 - I hope you're being ironic !!
Thanks to all for answering, they're all really good replies. |

Look at the actual percentage of deductions rather than tax rate bands. I am badly affected as a woman pensioner of under 65. I will pay an extra £10- £11 a month tax. I don't have to pay NIC, but I now lose a total of 10% of my income in tax. I think this is a disproportionate anount for a pensioner to pay on a small income. I can't get pension credits because I have a small occupational pension, although I am well below the official poverty line, and I never earned as much as the average wage, even when I was working.
We are told we will get extra fuel allowance. I wait with bated breath.
Very small consolation to wage earners, there are slight reductions in NIC. You can check figures and percentages on www.listentotaxman. I think the situation is appalling, and disgraces a Labour Government. |

I totally understand hunni, I have been victim of this ruthless inapropriate tax... they want us to vote for them when we actually havent a clue where the sodding money goes other than in their pockets im so shocked at the dramatic change in my pay packet i had £100 extra just before xmas and slowely it has changed! :( |

I don't get affected as I earn too much and end up about £5 a month better off. But it's disgusting. It will only cost 4 billion for the government to put this right. However it would prefer to bail the banks out (who make enormous profits) to the tune of 50 billion.
The Labour party must love everyone being on benefits, because if you work - low paid or not - you pay through the nose for it, whereas if you sit on your depressed, stressed, back aching **** all day drinking strong beer and smoking dope, you'll get a free house, help with your utility bills (!) and cash handouts to help. Benefits should be a short term measure to help people back into work (apart from the proven disabled), not a lifestyle.
Perhaps the Government don't like people working as they gain independence from the State... |

It's a disgrace and I actually believe they have no idea how many people will realy lose out. It's not just single people, but many married couples , even with children that will lose out too. I've never voted for this elitist Labour bunch and never will. Sorry for your situation - it's awful. Penalising the lower paid workers is unforgivable. Vote Labour out at every turn- I say. This is all wrong. |

Apparently he's sorry - I think it is ridiculous too. So many people are seeing their disposable income evaporate because of his stealth taxes. |

As a higher rate tax payer I'm actually better off by a surprising amount..
I'd just like to thank the poor for paying extra tax so I can pay less. It's appreciated. |

Now I'm in a bad mood. |

It is daylight robbery. The government always hit the poor, or at least it is them that are affected the most.
I believe that they are trying to recoup the monies spent by keeping our troops overseas. Thanks for that Mr. Bush and Mr. Blair.
Come and explain this to our families please when they cannot afford a holiday! |

Does anyone actually look at this and think it's an incentive for them to stop smoking (save money), drink less and cut down on other general crap that costs lots of money that is bad for them?
Why do you think that you've been robbed? Why do people think that paying taxes to pay for public services is theft? Why don't you turn your resentment to people who drain the state by fraudulently claiming benefits/avoid paying income tax by not declaring self employment.....no, no you lot just look at your payslips and don't think of the bigger picture.
If you think that the tories will do any better.......dream on. |
