Has anyone filed taxes with H&R block before?
if you how did you like their service did you get what you expected out of your return and did they make sure to work around things for you like give you credit for school, taxes you paid on certain things and stuff and how much did you pay them. Overall on a scale of 1-10 what is your rating for them?

If you are doing a 1040EZ do it yourself.

Anyone can do taxes if they just read the instructions.

H&R Block is like the rest of them, no they don't do that good of a job, especially for the money they charge. I have known people that went to them and then tried me. I always got them more money because I would do the taxes with them and ask questions.

I rate them a 3 if 1 is on the bad side.

Yes.I did file, twice. The first time, they didn't even charge me.The guy was really nice and helpful. I ended up owing a little bit of taxes, but,oh well.I give them an 8 that time.

The second time, last year,i didn't have a good experience. They charged me $200 to prepare my taxes. I told them I didn't want any loans.I just wanted my refund. They said they will deduct their $200 from my refund. They made me sign an application.I ask time and time again:Is this a loan?.The lady said it wasn't but it was. At the end,the IRS took our refund because my husband was in default with his student loan. So, I got a letter from HSBC that I owed them $200.I went to HRBlock to ask about it,they gave me a phone number and said I needed to talk to HSBC directly and they didn't know anything.
HSBC wouldnt let me pay the $200 over the phone, they said I needed to wait so many days and they kept referring my account as a delinquent account.I give HRBlock in that occassion, a -10.

I've used H&R many times over the years. Especially in the beginning of my work career. But as time marches on, your earnings, savings, investments, losses, etc. become more involved that they were when you first started working. when that starts to occur, H&R was really the people for me. I had to shop around for a CPA who worked on his own. On a scale of 1-10, I give a 6.5 to H&R.

H&R Block were ok but the cost to much!!! if you made less than $50,000 you would qualify to efile for free. But hey times are tough and people cant wait 2-3 weeks for their money and prefer to go to H&R Block or other tax professionals to get their money faster but the fees are about $200-$600. Personally I'll rather waitand efile for free. go to www.irs.gov and click free efile

I would rate them a 4-5. I got what I expected from my tax return, they asked all the questions. They were not the friendliest people. They were more interested in getting me out of there. The wait was incredibly too long, even though I had scheduled an appointment. They charged entirely too much, I want to say it was some where in the ball park of $500, keep in mind this was several years ago & I got a refund anticipation loan. All and all, I wouldn't go back. There are several tax preparation programs out there, ie Turbo Tax, Taxslayer, or even Block's online service, which are much more reasonable.

If you have a simple tax return it is cheaper to either do it yourself or to buy the software to do it. Last year it cost me around $250 for a simple tax return that took less than an hour to do. If I didn't have state taxes in two states to pay, I would have done it myself since it is just as fast and a lot cheaper.

I've used them for the past 3 years and have always had great service and was able to get everything back that I expected. They always worked with my extra credits like school and donations. They are always really nice about everything too. I would definitely rate them at an 8.
