Has anyone found a tax e-file site that is absolutely free?
My income is within the required limits of most e-file sites, but last year a website tried to stick me with fees after I entered all my info. Don't want that to happen again. Please help!
Additional Details
I guess that I should add that I looked on the IRS website last year and this happened, so i am wary. I also asked for absolutely free, not "a small fee to e-file."

I know exactly how you feel - there are often hidden fees that don't show up until the end, even with the sites recommended by the IRS. You should check out: http://freetax.mortgageous.com They don't charge for preparing, printing, or e-filing a standard return and they have free support too.

I went to H & R Block online since they are on the IRS free file list and filed my return with them. We fell into the income guidelines and then at the end of the return, it said that we owed nothing-it was free! But, if we had added a state return (thankfully Texas does not have state taxes) they would of charged us $9.95 extra.

So, you should try that because we have done that for the past 2 years with no problems. If you fit in the income limits listed on the free file site, I don't see how they would charge you, except I think you have to link to that site through the IRS free file page---not just go directly there. Maybe that's why they charged?

i KNOW YOU CAN EFILE FOR FREE AT IRS.GOV BUT I DO MINE THROUGH TURBO TAX AND IT IS NOT SO EXPENSIVE AND YOU CAN DIRECT DEPOSIT WITHIN TEN DAYS.

Taxact.com offers a free e-filing service, although you do have to pay for many of their better features.
