I mailed my tax forms out on April 14th. And I already recieved my state refund about 2 weeks ago but not my federal. I checked on the IRS website under the "Where's my Refund?", and it just says " there is a delay in processing your return." Could there be something wrong?? It seems like it has been 8 weeks already, and we still haven't got it. We are supposed to be receiving it in the mail.
Since you waited until just before the deadline it could be a couple more weeks until you see it. Either it is because of the Stimulus Package and the backlog with that or it is because they flagged your return for an audit (this is either random or because of something specific on your return like EIC). If they did flag it for an audit do NOT panic yet, most audits are random. If you want you can always call your local IRS office and ask to speak with someone about it and see if they can tell you why there is a delay.

Six to eight weeks is not that unusual for a paper return. If there was a typo or math error on the return it may take a little longer. You can call 1-800-829-4477 and ask a human if you want further info.

Check the IRS.gov site and get your info.
That is all I can say.

Once I had some one use my social by accident.
It took a few extra weeks but it was handled.
All they did was transpose two numbers
If youemail them they will help find it out for you.
It is possible you wehre selected for an audit, but not very likely.
GOOD LUCK

IF you have not filed all your tax returns for the tax years 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 then IRS is holding your refund and stimulus (if you qualify) until you file all your tax returns and IRS processes them.
contact IRS at 1-800-829-1954 they will let you know why you have received your refund and will give you the phone number to call.
If you haven;t file and need W2 let the IRS customer service know that you need the w2 and they will send them to you.

If they want more information, they will send you a letter. If there is a discrepency, they will send you a letter stating their findings. You can wait for them to send the letter - or - if you want to wait on hold for hours, you can call them - 1-800-TAX-1040, but call volumes are up 40% because of the rebate questions. It is not unusual for it to take 12 weeks for you to get a letter if they have delayed your return for some reason.
