Viki | Haven't received my tax rebate yet - should I call the IRS? |
I looked at the schedule for people with direct deposit, and based on my SSN#, I should have gotten it on the 2nd of May, but I still haven't gotten anything. I tried the IRS website "Where's My Rebate", but it says that it can't find the information. I submitted my tax forms online with TurboTax, and it was confirmed received by the IRS. I don't understand what could be wrong. Should I call them, or wait until Friday (two weeks after the date I should I have gotten it)? |

I have had a similar problem...here's what I found (after much searching on the irs.gov website.) I would think that this little bit of information should be posted right on the payment schedule page, instead of being tucked way down the FAQ section...
"Q. I chose direct deposit for my 2007 tax refund but also requested my electronic filing and/or tax preparation fees be deducted from my refund. Does that affect my stimulus payment?
A. If you requested that your electronic filing or tax preparation fee be deducted from the amount of your refund, you have entered into a financial agreement with the tax preparation provider or e-file software company for a refund anticipated check (RAC). Both Refund Anticipation Checks (RACs) and Refund Anticipation Loans (RALs) are bank products. The money that is deposited into your bank account comes from the financial institution associated with your electronic filing software provider or tax preparation provider, not directly from the IRS. Taxpayers who use RALs, RACs or enter into similar loans or financial agreements with their tax professional or tax software companies will not receive their economic stimulus payments by direct deposit. Instead they will get a paper check that will be issued according to the schedule that has been published for paper check distribution." |

if the irs web site says no info available then they have not processed your rebate yet keep checking the web site they update it throughout the day... you might be getting a paper check if you paid the filing fee's out of your refund. |

Just wait until friday but what I have read if you received an anticipation loan then you won't get it back until the paper checks goes out. |

Go here to see where your rebate is:
https://sa2.www4.irs.gov/irfof/IRServlet?app=IRACTC
Possible reasons include:
* Your payment may still be coming, but has not yet been sent. Information will be available here as payments are sent based on the last two digits of the primary SSN shown on your 2007 tax return. Specific information about your Stimulus Payment will not be available until about one week before your payment is scheduled to be sent. See the complete Payment Schedule below for more information.
* Filing and/or preparation fees were deducted from your refund or you received a rapid refund from your preparer. You will be receiving a check instead of a direct deposit. Please see the Paper Check Payment Schedule below.
* You did not file a tax return for 2007 or your return is still being processed. Additional information about filing requirements is available. |

If you had your tax prep fees taken right out of your refund you will receive a paper check by mail. The reason for this is the IRS doesn't have your bank routing # and account #.When fees are taken directly from a refund a 3rd party bank is involved and that particular bank has your account info. Thats probably why the IRS website can't find your info because they don't have it. |

That's not exactly true that Turbo Tax does refunds through a third party. They only do refunds through a third party IF you got a refund anticipation loan OR had the preparation fees taken from you refund. In those two cases, the IRS does NOT have your direct deposit info, and can't direct deposit your rebate money. Otherwise, the tax prep company you used has no bearing on when/how you'll get your rebate money.
Check the IRS website again for the status of your rebate. Mine was not showing up this morning, but is showing up now, with a direct deposit date of 5/16 (I used Turbo Tax, paid the prep fees with a debit card, and got my refund direct deposited to my bank account). |

This happened to me too. I did my taxes with Turbo Tax also and I haven't received mine. I did call the IRS and was told that most of the people who did their taxes on Turbo Tax have to wait for a mailed check because Turbo Tax distributes refunds through a third party. So, when the IRS gets your tax return, they don't get your bank info. Just your SS#. The IRS guy told me since they don't have by bank info, I will have to wait to get mine mailed. Sucks, doesn't it? But you can call and make sure. They can look up your account and tell you now. You don't have to wait 2 weeks. |

Just hang tight - remember - it's free money. You shouldn't be putting the cart before the horse. |

You should just wait. Have you used the IRS rebate calculator to verify that you're getting a rebate? |
