This is what the tax man wants in inheritance tax and I just want to know what sum would = 200,000 k at 40% ? Thanks.

Im not sure which was round you are asking this question.

40% of £500,000 = £200,000
40% of £200,000 = £80,000.

If 40% of X = 200000
then
40/100 of X = 200000
so
X = 200000 multiplied by 100/40
Therefore,
X = 500000

In the UK you do not pay inheritence tax until you inherit more than 300 000GBP

How ever to answer your question ( and assuming you have inherited over 500 000)
40% of 200 000 is .4 * 200 000 = 80 000
