Hi I have a question about Holiday Pay and whether or not i'll be able to claim it since i'm quiting work soon?
Basically I had a part-time job working in a bookmakers since the beginning of the year, and I have never received any holiday pay. I'm giving the job up next week so should I be able to request the amount of money that I'm owed and will it come as a lump-sum do you think?

Thanks a million

You are legally entitled to 4.8 weeks holidays a year. This is regardless of being part time or full time. As you are part time this will be pro-rata to the hours that you work. However companies are allowed to deduct Bank holidays from your holidays. Again this should be pro-rata as you are part time. So as you haven't taken any holidays you should expect payment for them. Check the Acas link http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1374 for more information. Hope this helps :)

You might not be eligible for Holiday pay because you only worked part time. Be sure to get all you can.

If your holiday year runs from January - December and you haven't taken any holidays then you're entitled to 1.5 days holiday pay for each complete month you work.

Or if its April - March the same rule applies, you accumulate holiday pay as each month passes.

Some companies have different rules but check with your Human Resource department, they will advise. It normally is paid in your last pay.

Ed
You have never had any holiday pay because you have never taken a holiday off work. Any holidays you have accrued and not taken will be paid in your final wage.

Part time or temps in the UK are entitled to holidays on a pro-rate basis.

any holiday pay you have acrewed should be payed to you with your final wage you could ask your wages dept about this and also what unused holiday you have so you know what to expect it can't hurt to ask.

mummy fi
they will pay you for the time you have been there, say if you leave after 6 months and u get 20 days hol pay, you will be given 10 days hol pay. they will give you it with your last pay cheque.

as long as they paying for the holidays then you have all the right to claim for your amount,as long that you was working on those days, better you take the schedjukle with u as the prove.

If you are employed as a part time, temp or contract worker you can normally not expect to get any leave, leave pay or holiday pay.

Try hr.od.nih.gov/t38and42crs/pay/holiday-ht...

Every company has different rules about this. Your best bet is to contact your HR department and ask them.
