Hi! I need your help!?
My mother bought a flat for Rs 4,50,000 in year 2000. We are planning to sell the flat for 14,50,000 now. Should we pay tax to the government for this? If yes, how should we pay the tax? Should we take a cheque and attach the same to income returns?

please guide me...

Your Capital gains are 8,39,285 if the house was purchased in FY200-01 and 8,12,596 in case it was purchased in 1999-2000. The tax comes at 20% of this, which is 1,67,857 and 1,62,519.2 respectively as the case may be.
You can pay this along with your returns. I suggest that you consult a CA to file the returns

better you consult a tax consultant. you will have to keep the profit in a separate acc for forther investment in prop.orherwise you will have to pay 30 % tax on the profit.

Hi!!
karthick to one u r selling ur flat the person is ready ??/
if it's like dat..u have 2 take the sales tax 4rm the buyer.like
if sales tax is 10,000.then u have 2 take 14,60,000 in total.
but take 2 cheques.one of rs.14,50,000 & another of 10,000
which u have 2 submit in the bank 4 ur future safety...so dat it would be easy to keep all that information in ur account &an dif any problem occurs then u can easily show ur account...
