No reason for them to give it to you. There are tons of people who are trying to earn a living and provide for their children. What's your problem? Can't you get a job and pay rent? I've heard of people being on the "list" for years that need the help however it seems that you just want to be a leech. Where are you living now? How have you been paying rent. Keep doing it |

Why don't you just get a job rather than leech from taxpayers. If you have a job and still can't afford your own place then you need to lower your expectations for an apartment, get a better paying job (which may require more education), get a second job or all of the above. |

Getting a Section 8 voucher can take several years.
You may be able to apply with other housing authorities but just know that those city denizens will have preference.
Although there is another alternative: public or subsidized housing. Rent is based on income and assistance is applied for at the apartment's leasing office.

It depends entirely on the area in which you live. Here, the list is usually closed to new applicants but every now and then opens up for a brief time to get new people on the 2 year waiting list.
By the way, as a single person you should easily be able to get a studio apartment or rent a room somewhere. |
