There is no specified time that an employer has to do this by, it depends on the employer and his practices. If you worked for a large firm it will be done by payroll. Have you received last pay from company yet? An employer who does the PAYE himself may have his own timescale, although as far as I can see, there is no more convenient time to prepare form P45 that when last wages calculated, and all information to hand.
I think you will have to contact old employer, and ask when he is planning to do it, as you need it for your new employer. It is always possible it has gone astray. |

to get your p45 takes about a week, if you have any tax returns dont forget to get your p60 which you can get from your boss, or phone the tax office in your area, hope that helps |

It will be with your final payslip.
When is your last paydate? If you only get paid monthly at the end of the month, then it would be this coming Friday.
Then obviously, you need to allow a couple of days for the post to get to you.
I would give it until the middle or end of next week, and then call HR if you still don't have it. |

A P45 should be in with your final payslip. If not contact your previous employer and chase it. |
