Go to the IRS web site they have a with holding calculator that will tell you exactly how many you can claim and still not owe at the end of the year |

You don't claim "deductions" on Form W-4. You claim withholding allowances. Just follow the instructions on the form and you'll have the right number for just about perfect break-even situation. Do this together with your spouse. The number you come up with the the total that you can claim between the 2 of you. If your incomes are similar you can split them. However if one makes more than the other by more than about 10% the one with the higher income should claim all of them and the other should claim 0. |

It depends on how many your spouse claims. You should have a combined total of 3 dependents. |

About the allowances you should claim on W4: http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/02/filing-w4-employees-withholding.html |

You could probably claim 3 and be fine, given that you have a lot of deductions like a mortgage, property taxes and child care, etc. You won't get as big a refund next year, but this way, the money goes into your pocket, not to the government. |

Claim Married with no dependents on your W4, and when you file your taxes, claim Married with 3 exemptions. You will end up getting almost all of it back. Been doing it for 20 years! |
