Now that the federal government has announced plans to give back $800 to the people (which they should do all the time! What do all those rich people need that money for!?!?! It is our rights as citizens!!!) what are you going to do with your money? I plan buy a little sexy number and to head to the Midnight Sun tonight to celebrate this extra paycheck we are receiving! I plan to buy a round for the bar since with this generous gift!!!
Someone told me they are mailing the checks out by the end of the week, which is good because I am late on my credit card payment this month.

I heard it was $1700 for each person in the household. I have me, my wife, and my wife's mother. Since I pay my wife's mother a salary of $12/month for doing the dishes, we have three tax payers in our household. So that means we'll be getting $5300 total!!! Woohooo! I just went and got a new Harly today. Put it on credit card. Should be able to pay off about a quarter of it thanks to this tax refund! |

Uh, right now the rebate is just a PROPOSAL, not something that has been passed by Congress. It's far from a sure thing! And if it goes through the way it's proposed, checks would be this summer sometime, not this week. |

Judy is right. Right now it is just a PROPOSAL. And the report said it could be UP TO $800, meaning it may be less. Bush has proposed $800 per tax payer. $1600 for married couples filing joint tax returns. Some nay-sayers say this is just a sneaky way for the Republicans/GOP to "look good" during an election year.
And no, we won't see it this next week. If it is approved, probably in the springtime.
I myself would pay off debt (Credit Card bills) thereby freeing up more of my monthly income little by little. |

Don't spend money you don't have!! Half of America is already making plans for the extra money that they think they are getting when it isn't even a sure thing yet. Just keep living your life the way you are and then IF you get a check mailed to you in three months then you can spend it. But remember that this "tax rebate" is just and advance for next year's taxes so your tax return for 2008 will be smaller. |

Supposedly I will be getting 1,600 dollars ( I will believe it when the check gets here) but if it does come, I plan on putting it in my savings account, it is always good to plan for a rainy day |

spend? look carefully, you need to make a certain amount a year to qualify for the rebate looks like anyone under 24,000 dollars a year wont get the full amount or maybe not any at all. it is still up in the air at this moment but my sources say don't get too excited... the best plan is not to spend what you don't have... |
