Go to the H&R Block website and you can do it online in only a short amount of time.

Big C
Below is the URL for this. You just have to see which service you can use. Now the reason H&R block might do it for free, cuz then if you come they might say, pay a little and you can get your money in two or three days. Other wise, screw the man. You can wait. I did. Also it helps to , to have a bank account. When your refund is ready it is sent out Monday. By mail, it has to get printed, then sent, and mail transit may take an extra 5 days.

Part of the IRS web site, it has stuff on e-filing and providers that will do it for free if you meet their qualifications (most of them will do it if you made less than $50,000).

You may be able to fill out your federal and state forms online and file for free. Visit the IRS page below and find out if you qualify - it says 70% of all tax payers do.

Do it yourself! I have been doing my taxes since I was 17 and have always got it right!

If you don't make over a certain amount, Turbo Tax has a program called Tax Freedom that will file your taxes for no charge.

Even if you don't qualify, the regular Turbo Tax program is one of the easiest that I have ever used and addresses almost any tax situation no matter how simple or complex. The regular price is only like $20-$25, so it's still much cheaper than paying someone else to do it.

Go online and download all the forms and instructions you'll need. Use the shortest, simplest form you qualify for. If you own a home or condo, you should probably file the 1040, so you can deduct your mortgage interest.

The exception would be if you run a business. From experience, that's usually the breaking point where it becomes complicated enough to need a professional.

If you're just a regular taxpayer, it's really not that hard. Start at Line 1, read the instructions and follow them.

If you make less than about $40,000 per year, look for a VITA or TCE site near where you live, and trained preparers will do your taxes at no charge. Look on irs.gov for more information on these programs.
