Right now it's all politics and policy with both of them, and nothing is set in stone. However, it is clear that McCain wants to reduce the already low capital gains tax to nothing, and that impacts the wealthy, not the average working man or woman. Obama wants to reduce tax on the working and middle classes while increasing it on the top earners. So what will actually happen is unknown, but we know what they aim to do, and Bush/McCain aim to help the wealthy like themselves. |

Unless the constitution has changed, Obama can't do anything about taxes except promise to change them. Only congress can change tax laws. But you are supposed to be too naive to know that so you will fall for his promises.

He is talking to the people and the people want to hear that there's going to be tax cuts which will help him get elected. The highest income earners also pay the most tax in this country, more taxes percentage wise than the middle class. And the big question is: where is Obama going to get the money to provide for our country? I don't agree with high taxes but they are needed to provide everyday functions of our country. Basically what Obama is doing is trying to be a modern day Robin Hood. Take from the rich and give to the poor. I don't want my hard earned money to go to people that aren't even willing to work or improve their status in life. |

This has been said a thousand times before. " Actions speak louder than words." So far Obama has done nothing but say what he was going to do. Has he ever done anything substantial enough to benefit the Illinois resident, never mind the rest of the United States? Has his wife, a potential first lady, ever loved the country which has given her the greatest opportunity ever? Having been the protege of the Reverend Wright who has been anti-American how do you explain the fact that he suddenly disowns the Reverend? Obama is the politician who tells the assembled group what that group wants to hear and the story changes with every group. When it comes to tax cuts, watch your pocket books. No one has ever gotten a free ride. Someone will have to pay for all the extravaganzas to which Obama caters. |
