You can't reclaim your National Insurance Deductions.
If you have been employed in the UK, and having tax deducted by 'Pay As You Earn' (PAYE), then you may be due some tax back, but possibly not all. It depends on your personal circumstances and how much you have earned.
You will need to complete a form P85 'Leaving the United Kingdom' and send it to your Tax Office with your P45 from your employer. You could also send your P60 'End of Year Certificates' just in case you are due a repayment of tax from previous tax years.
You can get the P85 from the HM Revenue and Customs web site:
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/cnr/p85.pdf
If you have more questions, phone your tax office and they will be able to help. |

You can't claim a penny. You have lived here and have had access to things like the NHS, council services etc therefore you have had to pay tax.
Sorry.

You cannot reclaim anything.
Your tax has been deducted to fund the state. Your naitional insurance goes towards healthcare and some towards your pension in later life.
Either way, you won't get a penny. |

In addition, did you complete form P86 when you came here?
The British Tax year goes from 6th April to 5th April. You may be able to claim a tax rebate from the date you started work until the following 5th April, and from 6th April until you leave the UK. For the former, tax office will need form P86 and form P60, for the latter, form P85, and the form P45 you will be given by your employer when you leave the job.
If you have been here for a whole tax year, you will not be entitled to a tax refund on that. NIC is deducted on a non-cumulative basis, and is non-refundable. |

dont you think that if you could claim tax back everyone would leave the country? |

You will only get a repayment of any tax you have OVERPAID, which is not necessarily all the tax you have paid.
You should fill in the P85 and send it with parts 2&3 of the P45. This will deal with the year of your departure. The tax year is 6 April-5 April. You should also send the P60 for the previous year if you want that year reviewing too. You should also fill in the P86 if you haven't already done so when you arrived in the UK.

National Insurance is not repayable. |

Your local UK tax office / inland revenue should be able to help you with that. Most main towns have one. You'll need payslips and a P60 to provide evidence of your earnings. If you keep receipts from buying goods you may also be able to claim VAT back.
If you're here on a visitor visa of some kind you should be able to claim some money back. |
