If you made under 54,000 you can file for free online. Just go to this IRS website.
http://www.irs.gov/efile/
They give you plenty of options on where you can file for free online. Personally I like HR Block. It's userface is very user-friendly. And asks you question by question.
If you make over $54,000, I would suggest using any online service, like HR Block. The service is only $14.95. And you can file completely online. And get you money within days via Direct Deposit.

FYI, check your paycheck stubs. Sometimes they put information, like a website where you can access your W-2 online. If not, your just going to have to call your parents, and have them read you your amounts. |

File them the same way as you always have. You can e-file from overseas or mail it in. There are also tax pros in the UK who specialize in the American community there and Block has an office near Lakenheath in Suffolk (East Anglia). |

Getting your W-2 is your problem. You can download the tax forms and instructions from the IRS website and mail in your return. |

File just like you would if you were in the US and mail your return to the IRS center in Austin Texas. Forms are on the internet |

TurboTax- I did all of my taxes online. Just have your mom fax you the information on your w2 or scan and e-mail and you can begin filing online. |

There are a lot of services that let you do it online and some are free.
If you have had somebody doing it for you for a while, you can always do it by mailing your info to them and letting them do it again. I have a lot of clients who have moved away but still want me to do their taxes.
Or you can do it yourself on paper by downloading the forms from http://www.irs.gov/ . |

You can efile your taxes. There's a link on the IRS website: http://www.irs.gov/efile/article/0,,id=118508,00.html that will connect you with companies that provide efileing. If your income is low enough, you can efile for free, otherwise, there's some fee (around $10-30) to use the software and efile your taxes. You'll need to get the numbers from your W-2 to enter into the software, but your parents can give you that information over the phone, or just forward you a copy of your W-2.
If you had any bank accounts, or investments that issued 1099's you'll need the information from those as well, but most of that can be obtained online.
The least expensive option that I've seen for efileing is TaxSlayer.com http://www.taxslayer.com/ I've used them before, and it's simple, and inexpensive (only $9.95 to efile a federal tax return, and they throw in a state return e-file for free.)
I hope that helps. |
