A year ago I left my underpaid, undervalued job basically with two fingers up to my boss who had treated me very badly for 4 years, since i have left she has not sent me my p45 which i need as i am going into a different job, Its not a situation where i can just pick up the phone and tell her i need it or even write a letter really. Is there anywhere at inland revinue etc i can contact that could get her to forward it to me? thanks so much 4 any help!! |

look up hmrc.gov, find the tax office for where your last job was, ring them |

You can just complete and sign a P46. This declares you have no other earnings in the tax year.
I would still try to contact your old boss and get your P45. Didn't she issue a P60 at the end of the tax year? By law she is required to. I would contact HMRC and let them know the situation, they will advise the best they can. |

A P45 from a year ago is of no use to you. Your new employer will need details of pay and tax from this tax year and only HMRC can provide that. Time, therefore to let this go and when you start your new job, ask for a form P46. Sign this and give it back to your employer, but ask your new employer for the name and ref no of the tax office which deals with their affairs. Write to this tax office setting out what you were doing from the time you left the old job to the time you started this new job. HMRC will then be able to issue a proper code to your new employer and you will be refunded any tax overpaid. You may also be due a refund for the last tax year (assuming you paid tax) and HMRC will deal with that directly for you.
The talk above of P60's is not relevent as you were not in employment at 5 April 2007. |

GOOD NEWS!!!! Because you left your job more than a year ago, you no longer need a P45 as the resignation happened in the previous last tax year. There is a different form that your new employer will need to give you, though, but I can't remember what it is - give Inland Revenue a ring though, they'll be able to tell you. |

Your p45 must be given to you by law, your boss may have sent it to the relevant tax office just to cause you grief, stating that you had,nt claimed it.Just go and ask for it at your old firm, first ,if it is not forthcoming ,then phone the Inland Revenue Office, they will issue you with the new document if you meet all the criteria.Good luck with it. |

Write her a letter, keep a copy, and give her 14 days in which to return your P45 (she should have done it when you terminated your employment)
If she doesn't respond, get your solicitor to write her a letter. That should do the trick. |

contact your local tax office or inland revenue and say that your boss if refusing to give it to you. They should be able to help.
Or try your human resources department, they should have it, not your boss. |

Think you will need to fill out a p60 or p46 then which you should be able to get from your new employer. |

You Don't need your P45, all you need is your national insurance number.. |
