Just walk in to nearest Income Tax dept. office with two passport size snaps and one photo-ID and address proof. Fill an application form, pay them Rs. 100/- and wait for a month or so u'll get PAN card by post. (form has to be filled with black pen :P)
Or even simpler, catch hold of some IT consultant or IT agent in your city, he'll get u the form and will submit it for u. Apart from government fees of Rs. 100/-, he'll charge u some commission also. So the second one is simpler though expensive option. (Normally commission varies from Rs. 50 to Rs. 150 per pan card) |

PAN stands for Permanent Account Number.
To get PAN card you have to apply it.Try this link

To get a PAN card you have to apply for the same.
You need to be of 18 yrs or more.
Resident of India.
Documents required for applying for PAN card are
1.Residence proof.(Elect.bill/ telephone bill/voter id etc.)
2.Identification proof.(Driving license/voter id/ degree certificate etc)
3.if you are in a job then a certificate from your employer.
Above documents are needed in a photo stat copy.

PAN is necessary in the following cases according to Section 139A of IT act 1961
1> sale or purchase of any immovable property valued at 5 lakh or more.
2> sale or purchase of a motor vehicle.
3> a time deposit exceeding 50000/- in any bank or in post office savings bank.
4> a contract for sale or purchase of Securities exceeding value of 10 lakhs.
5> opening a bank account.
6> making an application for a telephone connection including celluar telephone connection.
7> bill payments to hotels and restaurants exceeding 25000/- at any one time. |

Look at news papers...so many ads are there like "we do Tax Files , It , etc" contact with them.. they will take hardly 10 days to get your pan card. They will charge around 250 for this. :-) |
