When you get your income taxes back, you can open a cd.
Its like a savings account, with a higher interest rate. You get penalized if you take the money out too early(there are different terms that you can leave it in for).
Thats what I did. And I'm glad I did.

There are many options by which you can save your tax.
1. Buy a home - The Interest and Principle amount you pay per year is included for tax benefit.
2. Secure yourself with Insurance policy like LIC, PruICICI or Max NewYork.
3. Invest in Mutual Funds.
4. Buy Fixed Deposits.
5. Invest in PPF
and yes.
6. You you would like, donate some amount to child foundations like CRY. You will also save your tax by such donations.

Hope this helped!

Document all business expenses and charitable donations and deduct that from your income. Also, withold as little as possible and invest the money instead in an interest bearing account or buy 6 mo CDs. At least that way you can make money from your taxes instead of giving an interest free load to the government for a year.

HI ,
The best investment to save the tax is ULIP (Unit linked Insurance policy) it will be 3 year lock in period past performance of these funds given about 40% increase per annume .ICICI prilife, birla sun life are the good players in the segment.
the other way is NSC (national saving certificate). which will give you lesser yield
