dont worry when they get to your home speak to them nice at the front door dont let them in your home tell them you have five children and no money . they will leave and more than likely never return.
if you aint got any money to pay in your circumstances they is nothing at all they can do. it is more than the job is worth to harass you when you have five children.
in actual fact Bailiffs have very little power and people worry to much about them.
if they start to threaten you call the police straight away they will leave immediately believe me

They don't have the powers they make out, it's all bluff. no-one can enter your property without a police presence and a warrant.

As andrew C says, that and the gas board. alot of "bailiffs" are actually not Bailiffs and are actually just debt collectors. their is a difference. some debt collectors get pushy as they work on commission and flout the laws. but without a court warrant are merely hassling you. especially if you are paying some of the debt regulaly. I get debt collectors at my door some times as much as 2-5 times a week. I have a note on my door which reads

"debt collectors, take me to court, get the propper paperwork & I will make a payment agreement in court" cold callers of debts will be reported for harrasment to the courts with back up of the threatening amount of times you call during the week & illegal hours that you call.

Now Kindly place your notification in the letter box & smile as you are on camera. "

Since this note I now just get a "we called why you were out" card put through the door.

I have had 2 court notifications of debt of which I contacted the court and have agreed to pay it back through the court at a payment I can afford.

Its too easy to slip into debt, but its very hard to get out of it.

Edit If its a pedigree they will use it to tease your emotions but unless its worth thousands, they wont.

If you do not allow them into the house they cannot enter without a warrant. So if they do come round DO NOT answer the door, even if they say they are just there for a chat because as soon as they enter your property they can remove your posessions. When they have left call the company which you are in debt with & ask to speak to the consolidation department. They will be able to arrange something with you. Also try calling citizens advice who will be able to point you in the right direction.

I hope this was helpful.x
Good luck!

Can't enter your house if you don't let them come in but can enter through an unlocked door or window if they turn up tell them to go away and don't open the door widely enough for them to enter. Speak with your local Citizens advice bureua

Do not let the bailiffs in and then they cannot take anything. In the end they will have to refer the matter back to the court who will look into it again. There is a form you can get from the court where you fill in your income and outgoings - get some sensible help filling this in and don't put put yourself on too tight a budget! The court will then look again at how much you have to pay and is likely to look favourably at anything you offer - even if only £5 a month.

Do not sign anything from a bailiff either. In theory, they could take a pedigree animal but without papers the resale value would be very little so it is very unlikely that they will touch your pets - and if they do, threaten the RSPCA and legal action/public awareness if any harm comes to them - they don't need the hastle!

I'm sorry you have had some hastle from the narrow minded Daily Mail readers. If they are not married or virgins, then they are so two faced they are not worth even thinking about. On the scale of pathetic as the sort of people who are bailiffs themselves!

I hope this link is helpful other then going to your citizen advice bureau,

Bailiffs and debt collectors,
If you owe someone money, they may try to collect the debt using a bailiff or debt collector. If these people contact or visit you, you need to know how to deal with them, and what your rights and obligations are.

When bailiffs may be used,
Your creditor (the person you owe money to) can make a claim against you in the County Court. A County Court Judgment (CCJ) may be made stating you must repay the debt.

Your creditor can ask the court to issue a 'warrant of execution', which means that bailiffs may be called in to help recover the debt.

If you owe tax to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), or Council Tax to your local authority, they may send bailiffs to recover the debt.

Debt collectors
Creditors may use a debt collection agency to ask you to pay off the debt.

Debt collectors aren't court officials and don't have the same powers as bailiffs. They can't enter your home or seize your possessions.

the link here is to give you more information,

I wish you well, good luck

its harsh that your already paying them what you can afford and theyr'e still threatening. I wouldn't panic tho, a friend of mine was being threatened with bailifts for years and years and they never came round! as long as your trying to pay bit by bit i don't think they will, prob just trying to scare you.

The old man
Bailiffs are employed by your debtors, they are the ones to stop them, by law if you are paying something of your debt even though you may be dead before you have finished paying you are O K , check with the citizen's advice bureau

google it because unless its council tax they have no rights at all they just bully you into giving consent that you don't need to, also ring citizens advice (it will take ages to get through)
there are loads of web sites (free ones)telling you what to do,
let me know how you do if you like

to be honest, i would advice you to cut down on the costs so that you would have the money to pay to the bailiffs, you can do this by buying food stuff from Asda and the smart price which is much cheaper than the original priced ones and it would just be for a while. also you can go to you related family and ask for financial help. they would give you the amount you want as long as they love you to being family.then this would buy yo time to pay your family back and by then you have got the bailiffs off your back.

go to the citizens advice. tell them you are paying what you can afford and all the worry and stress they are causing is making you ill. anything of real value though i would store somewhere for the time being until you get it sorted out. i hope things work out for you. x

Who do you owe the money to? Is it your rent or is this another debt?

They will have served you with some papers, you need to talk to the person who you owe the money to and sort out a reduced payment over a longer period or something.
-------------------------------------
What bailiffs can and can't do
If County Court bailiffs come to your home, you don't have to let them in.

They can't force their way in on their first visit, but they can enter through an open window, or an unlocked door. Forced entry includes pushing past you once you have opened the door to them or leaving their foot in the door to prevent you closing it. Such action would make the whole process illegal.

Bailiffs trying to recover money you owe to HMRC are allowed to break into your home, providing they have a magistrates' warrant.

Bailiffs recovering unpaid magistrates' court fines, however, do have the power to force entry.
--------------------------------------...
What can a bailiff take?
Bailiffs can't take essentials such as clothing, bedding, cookers, fridges, most furniture and the 'tools of your trade' (for example, a computer you use for work).

They can take non-essential items such as your television. They can take possessions outside your home (for example, your car or garden equipment), or in unlocked sheds and garages.
--------------------------------------...
Visit the website mentioned earlier.
p.s where are your CSA payments - have you made efforts to recover the money from the fathers.

Why did you not contact the CAB before it got this far? You must arrange some form of payment plan to be agreed with them as otherwise they are entitled to enforce payments
