How can you ever own property outright without personal property tax?

I think Native American do not pay taxes on Reservation land that they buy. But, I am not sure.

Why should one citizen be privileged enough to not pay their fair share when others are paying? Property tax is what keeps our local services, like police and the fire department, working. We all need to contribute to our communities.

Move to a state with no personal property tax. TX and OK both don't have personal property taxes. There are undoubtedly others.

Gary
Move to a state that doesn't have it such as Illinois. I live close by to Missouri and they have a personal property tax. Plus Missouri taxes pensions so that is why I lived in Illinois.

It depends on what state you are in. In mine, California, individuals pay personal property tax on autos, boats and airplanes but nothing else.

RUSerious
When you say, personal property tax, I assume you are referring to tangible property other than real estate taxes. As a general rule, individuals do not pay personal property taxes, only businesses pay this tax.
However, if you live in the State of Iowa, Illinois or New Jersey, you are not subject to a personal property tax even if you are a business as these states do not have a personal property tax.
So, I guess your best bet is to live in a state that does not tax personal property that is owned by a business or an individual.

In America, you're going to pay property taxes no matter what. The only question is how much. That is determined by the value of the land and it's improvements.

Angie
I suppose there are places that have no property tax. So you could research that and buy property there. Other than than - you know what they say - death and taxes!

De
I highly doubt that will ever happen...
