lucky steve | How comes after paying national insurance and tax for 20yrs? |
i now find myself unemployed for the first time in 20yrs and basically am going to get bugger all from the government.
p.s. how the hell do you live on £57 a week, with 2 kids an ex wife, a car, bills and oh food? |

If you are living alone, then £57 is correct. If you have people living with you (dependents) you should have included this information on your JSA application and you would get more. I am not sure what you expected because National Insurance contributions while you are working are small amounts that help to finance your JSA and also any NHS treatment you may need. You are now eligible for free prescriptions, free eye tests and reduced bills on chargeable NHS treatments (optician, dentist). Income tax paid has no relevance to welfare benefits and your JSA assessment takes no account of your ownership of a motor vehicle as the Government don't consider it to be a necessity of life |

You are getting nothing becos all the money you have paid over the years went to junkies and the likes!!! It is shocking that we work hard and pay our taxes and when we have one bad spot of luck we get the 2 fingers!! |

Sorry, did you think you were going to get something back? We have government on the cheap - because that's the only thing people will vote for. If we wanted a welfare state like we had in the 1950s, we'd have the same kind of tax rates as we had in the 1950s. That was 8s.3d in the pound (41.25%) basic going up to 19s.6d in the pound (97.5%) for top earners.
You get what you pay for. You'll just have to hope you don't get ill. |

Old Know All... we do have the rate of tax we had then. If you add all our taxes and duty`s and VAT together then our current rate of income tax is probably about 66%. |

unlucky steve lad, yeh tell me about it i've got 8 kids (hmmm maybe more i dunno) and the government only gives me £454 a week to live on. ok i dont need to pay rent or council tax and dont bother with stupid things like tv licence and water rates but a man needs enough money for a couple of beers every night, a chippy, 40 fags and a couple of E's. is it too much to ask? it's a bloody joke, the dss think i'm lazy but i've got a bad back... |

working most of your life is not a good enough reason to get help from the government, you should have been sensible and been a junkie or alcoholic and been claiming benefits all your life!! |
