Get in touch with your local tax office. The IRS lets you amend taxes up to the last three years |

Normally, your employer will need to contact their tax office to apply for your correct coding and then apply this to the payroll for the balance of the forthcoming tax year to 05 April 2008. This may mean that the refund of overpaid tax is distributed over the next 5 months. This assumes that the tax office agree this. If the amount is small they may wait until the end of the tax year to adjust the coding and your overpayment. If it is a large amount you may want to speak to your tax office to see what they can do for you. First of all, speak to your payroll department to see if they can rectify the situation.
All information was correct at time of answering.
To find an IFA who can provide you with further advice on investing/tax/etc call 0800 085 3250 or go to http://www.unbiased.co.uk. |

You need to fill out a tax form, register online and use your P60 which your employer should have given you by July detailing the taxes paid for the previous year. Register online at www.hmrc.gov.uk and fill our there its easy peasy, you just copy the information from the P60. Rebates are usually very quick, within 4 weeks or so I would say. |

you can ring them and ask for it back, it doesnt take long, but if you cant be bothered then next april they will realise you have paid too much and send a rebate |

For the current tax year (starting on 6th April), your employer will refund any tax overpaid through your wages on your next pay day.
If the wrong code was in operation during the last tax year, the refund will come from the Tax Office. Ring them to find out if they are dealing with this already - you may need to send them your P60 - but ask them first as they may have it in hand. |

usually your tax code gets adjusted so you would pay less tax until it balances out but call tax office to check. It would necessarily be local tax office it would be the one your employer is registered at. |

You need to get in touch with your local Tax Office.

You need to take all the relevant paperwork to the tax office and ask them to investigate. You may not get a rebate they may just lower the amount of tax you pay for a while until you are straight. Good luck...hope you get lump sum...as it dont feel the same as a reduction. |

You need to contact local tax office, get the reference and tel No from your employer.
They should be able to sort it out but may require a self assessment depending on circumstaces. Ask for a new code with some urgency. |

we have an Inand Revenue 'desk' in our local Council office. i have found the rep.to be MOST helpful. She helps fill in forms correctly and makes any necessary phone calls. She also helps to negotiate a payment plan when you've UNDERpaid(yes, £4,000.00 - I claimed clerical error and had the amount reduced by £1,000.00) and any queries about Tax Credit. If you like, the Citizens Advice Bureau are also very clued up |

You have to wait until you do your taxes for this year next February to get your refund. There is no way to get an early refund. There's no such thing as a "local tax office." |
