Do not fall for those links being posted for those fake sites that are not actually free like http://www.freecreditreport.com

Go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com I just did it last night.

Also if you apply for credit and are turned down in writing (they always send a letter) you are entitled to a copy of your credit report from the credit bureau listed in the letter within a certain time period (either 30, 60 or 90 days) you must send a copy of the letter denying you credit.

Here is a little tip for you go to http://www.zabasearch.com and do a search for your own name. http://www.zabasearch.com is an amazingly thorough search engine. I did this last night and it came up with my old addresses as well as one in a city that I have never lived in (I had to look at a map to even find out where the city was!) that is what triggered me to then want to review my credit report (the possible inaccurate information)

You should review your credit report at least every year, I have failed to do that for a couple of years.

At:http://www.annualcreditreport.com they offer you three options to obtain your report either on-line, or a paper copy can be mailed to you. You can request the paper copy by submitting a form via mail or you can request it via a phone call.

annualcreditreport.com is the site you want. The government requires that the 3 credit bureaus provide your credit report for free through these site (annualcreditreport directs you to each of the bureau's sites). All other sites will likely have all kinds of scams, spam, and ad-ware. The only downside to annualcreditreport.com is that they only provide the reports and not for FICO score. You will have to pay for your score. Of course the bureau websites have all kinds of packages they try to sell you (credit monitoring ,scores for all 3, etc.), that may or may not be beneficial and worth the money.

http://www.annualcreditreport.com is the right place to get your credit report for free without purchasing anything else or getting spyware/adware downloaded to your computer.

But other people have already told you that!

Now, as far as the credit score goes, it is harder to get for free, but still possible. My favorite way is to go through a loan process without actually completing the loan, but just getting to the point where they check your score for you. The last time I did this, I went through http://www.eloan.com and half-applied for a home mortgage.

I hope that helps, and I also hope that no one has done anything with your social security card. Identity problems are always such a pain.

since you are 16 there should not be anything on your credit report, if there is dispute the charges as you can not enter into a legal contract. the site to check was already listed.

actually the official site to provide an annual credit report (which is required by the government) is:

annualcreditreport.com

other sites may send you spam forever and may charge fees -- this site is set up as a requirement of legislation
