Julia A | How do I find out if someone is collecting SSDI benefits? |
|
|

Angie

Maybe your real question is:
If I suspect that someone is getting SSDI benefits fraudulently, what do I do?
In that case you can contact Social Security to report the suspected fraud. |

You could ask them. Otherwise you can't find out. |

The only way is to ask them, unless you have their Social Security #.
It is illegal for S.S. to tell you even then, but there are ways of finding out online. but, you will have to have the number and as I stated, it is an illegal action. |

It would help to find out why you need this information. For purposes of the economic stimulus payment, many people aren't actually aware of whether or not they receive SSDI (which qualifies for the payment) or SSI (which does not). The easiest way to tell is to look at one of the letters that Social Security sends about the benefits. This will clearly indicate which type of payment it is. |
