If you only made $4,000, you will probably get everything you paid in, even if someone else can calim you (your parents).

Do your own taxes. Use form 1040EZ. Mail it in and get that money back!

purplehearts27
even if you are claimed as a dependent and you worked at a job that gives you a w-2 back, you can get taxes back. once you get your w-2 in the mail your parents can help you file.

crazycreations101
As long as the company was taking money out of your paycheck you will get a refund. I made less than 3,000 and my parents claimed me as a dependent and I got alittle over $200 back.

justagorilla
you should get some of it. why don't you pick up the ez-file form at the library and try it? you'll learn alot doing it yourself.

artillerygirl01
You know if you get a refund by filing your taxes. Have your parents help you fill out a FORM 1040 EZ. It's very simple.

WOW! What a buttload of useless answers! LOL!

OK, here's the real deal. Since you are claimed as a dependent, you lose your personal exemption. That means that you are only REQUIRED to file a tax return if your income is MORE than $5,350 in 2007. Your income is less than that do you are not REQUIRED to file.

However if any Federal income tax was withheld from your pay you'll need to file in order to have those taxes refunded to you. Therefore, you'll get a full refund of all Federal income tax that was withheld.

If your state levies an income tax you may have some tax liability there as most states have lower earnings limits for their income taxes. The worst is PA which only exempts the first $33.00!

if you want the refund you can stil file your own taxes you will get some back

SlapChop Ur gonna love my nuts
Uh yeah, you can. My mom claimed me too when I was under 18 and I worked. I usually got around $400 back.

if you have a w-2 then have your mom do your taxes.

Were any taxes withheld from your pay? If you do get a refund, it will be a very small one.

I believe that you don't have to file if your annual income is under $5500, but you can find out by checking with the IRS.

If you make under $5000 you get all the taxes back you paid in.

The easiest way to see how much you get back is to see what you paid into federal & state on your w-2's. Add up your federal amount that you paid in...that's how much you get back & then add your state up & that's how much you get back in state taxes. ( That's for people with $4000 or less income & no dependents)

You have to fill out a tax return to determine this.

The answers "if you are claimed you can not file" and "If your parents already claimed you, you can not file" are completely wrong. Just because someone else claims you as a dependent does NOT prevent you from filing your own tax return. All it means is if someone else claims you as a dependent you cannot take the personal exemption on your own return.

Because your income is so low it is very probable you will owe no federal tax at all, and you may get a refund of all that was withheld for Federal tax. To claim a refund you must file a return.

probably not, since you are listed as a dependent, your parents will get a bigger refund...perhaps an increase in your allowance is in order

even if you earn 1 dollar last year, you still pay taxes. it's the law. you may get a 5 cents tax refund or less or nothing at all...as long as you earn some money, you will pay tax, therefore you can get a refund

If your parents already claimed you, you can not file.

They can claim you until you are 22 yrs old, provided you maintain the minimum full-time status in college (12 credit hours per semester). Yes, you need to file a tax return. I cannot tell you whether you will get a refund or otherwise. Follow the instructions on TurboTax Online and do your taxes. It is real easy. It will ask you all the relevant questions.
