IF you didn't have an income then you don't have anything to pay taxes on....Did you work? Have you received a W2 or 1099 form from anyone? Did you win money? Did you inherit money? If you didn't do any of those things, then why would you file taxes?
PS you don't get that rebate if you made less than 3000 dollars. So if you had no income then you get no rebate. I made 1000 last year so they told me I don't qualify for the rebate. |

You don't file. If you have no income, there are no taxes to file. |

If you don't have any income, you don't file a return. If you had social security or VA disability or railroad retirement of at least $3000, you file a form 1040A to be eligible for the stimulus rebate even if you don't ordinarily file. But if you had NO income, then you aren't eligible. |

Because. . . .?
You don't file an income tax form if you have no income!
And despite other posters, you don't qualify for the rebate if you have no income. It's based on EARNED income, SS, and VA disability, and NOT on welfare, SSI, etc. |

You can't. And if you've done work for yourself, it has to be taxable income. If you earn an income this year and plan to file next year, there is a section/clause that asks about your previous year. You can indicate there what your status was and the reason you did not file. Don't worry though, this happens to many people all the time. |

Just put down a zero on the income lines. You need to do this to qualify for the reduced rebate given to non-earners. |

If you want the rebate thingy, you have to file. So call the IRS and ask them. |

You should still file. It does at least 2 things (the 3rd item requires information about your unique situation):
1. It provides the IRS with an explanation of what occurred last year. If you don't file, they will not have any record of your income and may suspect that you are avoiding income tax.
2. It will provide proof of income to organizations that help low-income people (college grants, etc.)
3. It may entitle you to a small return, depending on whether or not you spent money on deductible items (education, business, etc.)
The rule of thumb: Always file. The IRS will have less of a reason to audit you now or down the road. |

Pick up a 1050 and fill out all appropriate info. When it comes to fill out the income lines, put $0.00. (You won't have a tax liability either). But you will have to file if you want to collect the minimum $300 tax relief credit the government created this year. |
