your local tax office should be in the phone book, if not phone your local job centre and ask them, once you get through to the tax office tell them you want a form sent out for a tax rebate |

If you are applying for benefits, then the local tax office will write to you and tell you. If you are not claiming benefits, go to your local tax office with your p45 and ask them to check for you. |

In the absence of making a personal visit to your local Tax Office, try here :- http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/home.htm and use their 'Contact Us' facility. Good Luck. |

RING YOUR LOCAL TAX OFFICE AND SPEAK TO AN ADVISER |

You need your national insurance number, then phone any tax office who will give you the number of the correct office. Good luck . |

If you are claiiming JSA, the Job Centre will make a tax refund when you eventually sign off. If you are not claiming, you can ask for a form when ringing the number below.
If you just want HMRC to check you have paid the correct tax over the past few years, ring the help line appropriate to your area - see this link:

You should soon be issued with a Form P60, this will show your earnings for the Tax Year just ended
Tax Allowance (£5035 is normal for 06/07)
Tax deducted
N I Contributions made
(With help from your friendly Payroll Clerk you will be able to determine if a REFUND is Due)
P60 - end of year certificate
By 31 May after the end of the tax year, you must have been given a P60 form |

Did you get a P45? Your National Insurance Number quoted to any Inland Revenue office will get the information about your Tax office and they will give you all the help you want to establish your taxable situation. |

There is a national number you can phone under inland revenue. You will need your P45 from your last job and evidence of anything else you have been paid throughout the year. However, if you have been paying tax through PAYE it is unlikely, if you have only just become unemplyed, that you will be due any tax back as it is the end of the tax year. If you are due tax back can I suggest you do not sign on until the 6th Aprilas you cannot claim tax back while signing on but do not give them the P45 However, as it will be the new tax year on the 6th and you would be claiming tax back for the year 2006-2007 you can put in a claim. |

Contacting the Inland Revenue can be very hard and time consuming unless you know exactly what you are doing and have all your forms.
If you want a quick and much easier way of getting your taxes back trying using a company like http://www.TaxFix.co.uk or www.tax-back.com.
They are experienced and will probably get you back more in a shorter time.
At the end of the day whatever you do just make sure you dont let the government keep what is rightfully yours. |
