this is my first time filing, unfortunately i keep losing my forms, how do i get a copy of this years w2 forms from the irs, i was told i could do so. i dont want to keep asking my employer because i already asked them for a copy twice and they gave me one twice but for some reason my w2 forms keep disappearing.

You can't request them from the IRS yet. IRS will not have them available until after August 2008.
You must get them from your employer.
Hope no one has filed a tax return using your social security and their name.

Get a third copy and take it directly to a tax professional. Get it done right the first time. |

It would probably take A LONG time to get them from the IRS. It would probably be better to be a little embarrased and ask your employer again. They have to send the to the IRS, but you don't know if they have actually done that yet or not. Go to IRS.gov and see what you can find out. |

You should go to the web site; http://www.nyc.gov/html/opa/downloads/pdf/w-2duplicate.pdf and download the form to mail directly to the Pay roll office. |

You have to be more careful because there are 2 things that is sure in life, taxes and deaths, go to the site and find out how you can get another copy of your w-2.

Seems like you are very irresponsible. You have to obtain them from your employer, you have no choice. They must provide it to you no matter how many times you have asked. You need to be more careful and stop losing important and crucial documentation. If I was your employer and you kept asking me for the W2, I would really REconsider your employment with my firm.... I mean seriously, the year just started and you have lost numerous times already.... time to be a grown up now |

You can't get them from the IRS - employers no longer send in copies of the actual W-2 - NOW the information is transmitted to the IRS electronically, so YOU MUST go back to your employers and ask them for copies and if you have lost the more than once, they can charge whatever they want for the hassle of getting you copies |

I've always found them at my local library. You may check the post office, or the social security administration, or at the IRS office definetely. |
