You need to give more information about what it is you are selling before anyone could give you advice.
I'm an accountant........and I couldn't answer your question without more information

Dont buy shares or second property - if you have any sign them over to someone else.
Whatever else you do dont lie to the taxman - it aint worth it.

LEAVE UK-before tax return is due. Or now its going down to 18% ,just pay it.

Dont make a capital gain.
Or lie about it.
But if Mr Tax Man hears about that they will send the men round with their dogs.
You can be fined quite a lot as well.

depends on what your selling. if its a house, try selling half of it in one tax year, then another is the next tax year.

obviously this isnt very viable, but if selling to other half, or family members it can work.

Die before you sell so its inheritance tax. If its your home ie main residence its exempt around 1st £8000 isn't taxed and until 1998 you got relief for inflation and from then until the 18% rate comes into effect you get taper relief depending on the number of whole years you've owned it so it could pay you to sell before the new 'lower' rate comes in as the actual rate could be less! Alternatively become super rich and give up paying tax! Moving abroad won't help if you were born in the UK.

My dad was a solicitor and tried everything he could but never managed it. The only way at the moment is to sign everything over to someone else eg. a son or daughter and then live another 7 years or the government will thieve it anyway. However if you wait a little while I think they are either going to change the threshold of Inheritance Tax to £1,000,000 or stop Inheritance Tax being counted on the value of your first home. Personally I think Inheritance Tax is an excuse for legalised robbery - I had to pay £64,000 on my dad's estate.
