Head of household is for someone that is living with someone but is not married to them.
If you are married, you cannot file head of household. |

If you lived together at any time after June 30, even one night, then your options are a joint return or married filing separately (not filing single).
If you have been separated since before the end of June, and you have a qualifying child of yours who lives with you, and you provide over half of the costs of maintaining the household, you can file as head of household even though you are still legally married. Your spouse would file as MFS. |

If you lived together the last 6 months of the year you will either have to file married filing jointly or married filing separately.

No. You cannot do that. You can either file Married Filing Joint or Married Filing Seperately. Usually, Joint has the best outcome. |

Sorry, if you're married you can't file as head of household. And filing most income tax returns when you're married should be done jointly. The filing status of married filing separately will increase your tax liability. |

No. Your "spouse", by definition, is a married person, and is therefore prohibited from filing as single.
As a person with a spouse, you are also a married person. If you lived apart from your spouse for the entire year and meet certain other criteria, then you may be "considered unmarried" and eligible to file as "head of household". If you lived with your spouse and any time or do not meet the other criteria for filing as "head of household", then you are prohibited from filing as "head of household". |

No you are not head of household. For head of household you must be unmarried or did not live with your spouse for last six months of the year and have a qualifying dependent. Read the requirements for head of household: http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/05/head-of-household.html |
